Work History:
Exhibited in retail art galleries and made a living from art full time from 1992 to Present.
Owned retail gallery from 2002 to 2004, “Christopher Mathie Gallery” in Gig Harbor, WA
Christopher Mathie is a dynamic painter known for his emotional abstractions and expressive coastal landscapes using a language of symbolic forms. He draws on personal interests in psychology, philosophy and metaphysics, as well as observations of the natural world. He has exhibited his work professionally for more than 30 years, and his paintings are included in private and corporate collections nationally and internationally. He has taught art privately (pottery and painting) and worked with many fine art galleries as well as the high end interior design world. Mathie was nominated for the 2016 James W. Ray Distinguished Artist Award, given by Fry Art Museum / Artist Trust Consortium. He also currently works with the Museum of Northwest Art Store in La Conner, WA.
